Over the years we have been involved not just with selling boats, but advising clients on hardware criteria for offshore racing and cruising multis and also acting as owner's representative throughout the build or refit process.
Racing
Having been involved with most of the British 40' offshore race programs, we have some experience in dealing with racing ideas put into practice and tested in the harsh environment of serious offshore racing. Our specialisations may best be described as Rig, Sails and Deck Logistics.
Knowing riggers, sailmakers, hardware suppliers and builders all competent at their separate tasks, we tend to focus on the interfaces where the various disciplines meet. Equipment interaction and knock-on effect often creates problem areas, which are sometimes found out in the middle of a race!
Our approach comes from an engineering basis, with a strong bias to avoiding actual hardware, where a softer, more kindly attachment is required. e.g. mainsail clew held onto boom not by stainless outhaul mechanisms, but a simple spectra strop!
Past involvement has been Shockwave, Spirit, Gleam, Fiery Cross, Fingers Crossed, Wingover.
Cruising
The choices and pitfalls in choosing your multihull and fitting out for distance cruising are many and varied. Our experience in knowing what works or doesn't work can save you large amounts of money and time.
Having lived for 18 years in the area of your tropical destination (north Caribbean), we can tell what's needed there. There are very important parameters for blue water sailing craft such as awnings, biminis, ventilation, dinghies, watermakers, etc.
As we obtain trade prices, we can pass these discounts onto our clients. We mark up our trade price on equipment by 10% - if that saves you money on the price you can get, then we are all happy!
